Building on local green and sustainability plans, the Tantramar 2040 steering committee held three rounds of discussions on creating a sustainable Tantramar. The first was held in September 2010 at Cape Jourimain Nature Centre. It featured a brainstorming activity where 40 issues were identified. These issues were then prioritized into 8 topics which were the focus of discussions at the second meeting held at the Swisscot Tea Rooms in Dorchester in November 2010. The third round of discussions included 4 separate meetings to focus on action-planning for six key topics: food, transportation, energy, water, bio-regional planning and coastal issues. We are in the process of compiling information from all the discussions and feedback into a regional sustainability plan. To wrap-up the formal planning phase and turn attention toward implementation, we have organized Tantramar2040 – from Planning to Action.
