Adaptation Plans and Progress Reports

About Adaptation Planning in Memramcook-Tantramar

Due to its low-lying coastal location, the Memramcook-Tantramar region is one of the most vulnerable areas to climate change in NB. The region has been impacted by hurricanes and coastal storm surges, faster erosion rates, fresh water floods, wind storms, and longer drought periods, etc.  Annual temperatures are increasing. Storms are becoming more intense and more frequent. Sea levels are rising. Storms are leading to more frequent devastation. These impacts can affect the economy, infrastructure, livelihoods, safety, and human health. Thus, local communities in the Memramcook-Tantramar have climate adaptation/resilience plans. The Chignecto Climate Change Collaborative also has a regional action plan. These plans have been coordinated by EOS and funded by the NB Environmental Trust Fund. EOS works with implementation committees to constantly review plans, report on progress and renew or develop new plans.
