Fall is the time to think about sealing leaks in your home and preparing for the cold winter months. One of the most cost-effective ways to save energy and money is with draft-proofing.
EOS Eco-Energy is accepting applications from Tantramar area homeowners with low-incomes who would like to host a draft-proofing work party. “Draft-proofing work parties allow a homeowner and his/her guests to learn how to seal leaks and then work together to draft-proof the homeowner’s house during a party,” explains EOS executive director Amanda Marlin. This pilot project party will be at no cost to the homeowner. EOS will coordinate catering for the party, media coverage, and cover the cost of materials. EOS is partnering with Enercheck Solutions of Moncton (certified energy advisors) who will teach the host and guests about draft-proofing and perform a before and after blower door test to measure the improvements made. During this pilot project phase only one house can be selected but EOS hopes to offer additional draft-proofing work parties in the future and is encouraging many applications. Selection for the pilot project draft-proofing party will be based on answers to questions in a short application form at http://eosecoenergy.com/en/party/. The application deadline is Friday, November 11th, 2016. EOS Eco-Energy has received funding from the Westmorland-Albert Community Inclusion Network and the Mount Allison Students Union’s Green Investment Fund for this project.
