Mental wellbeing is incredibly important in the resiliency of local communities, especially in the face of climate change and maintaining the capacity to adapt and coordinate altogether. The stressors to our global society these past four years during the global COVID-19 pandemic coupled with climate anxiety from climate change and impending impacts can lead to feelings of apathy, and in some cases symptoms of burnout.
EOS staff developed a climate anxiety-to-action workshop series which pulls from local expertise and resources in art, indigenous knowledge, and professional counselling.
Introduction to Plein Air Workshop
Fine art painter Christeen Awad will be leading a 3-hour workshop in Sackville’s Waterfowl Park, which will introduce participants to the plein air process. The workshop will involve painting in reverence to nature, with an emphasis on self-expression and will focus on essential plein air techniques such as mark making, shape, texture, and atmospheric perspective.
Information about future Climate Anxiety-to-Action workshops will be posted here and on EOS’s social media accounts
