Sackville’s Electric Vehicle Charging Station
EOS Eco-Energy Inc. partnered with the Town of Sackville, NB to install a 100 amp (240 volt) Sun Country Highway electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The installation work (by Tantramar Electric) is now complete at the Sackville Visitor Information Centre at 34 Mallard Drive. Sackville joins a growing network of EV charging stations across Canada and the world, making it easier for EV owners to travel further. The Level 2, 100 amp charging station is among the fastest charging stations on the market today. EOS received funding from the Mount Allison Students Union’s Green Investment Fund for the EV charging station. The Green Investment Fund is for local projects that reduce carbon emissions. According to NB Power by switching to an electric vehicle, a New Brunswick driver can reduce his or her emissions by up to 84%. EOS was thrilled to partner with the Town of Sackville who contributed financially to the project and will maintain the charging station. The Town will also cover the cost of charging vehicles. For more information on the electric vehicle charging station contact Amanda Marlin, Executive Director of EOS Eco-Energy at 536-4487 or eos@nb.aibn.com or Jamie Burke, Senior Manager of Corporate Projects at the Town of Sackville at j.burke@sackville.com or 364-4957.
The launch took place Tuesday, September 2nd at the Sackville Visitor Information Centre at 34 Mallard Drive.
The launch of the EV charging station was very well attended. Representatives from Sun Country Highway (the Canadian Company where the charger was purchased) were on hand and the Mayor Bob Berry spoke as well as Amanda Marlin, executive director of EOS.
Participants in the launch got to witness the impressive Tesla Model S charge at the station.
