EOS Eco-Energy, in conjunction with the municipalities of Sackville, Dorchester, Port Elgin, Memramcook and the Tantramar Planning District Commission; and funded in part by Canada’s Rural Partnership, an initiative of the Government of Canada and in part by the New Brunswick Environmental Trust Fund, have completed the draft of a sustainability plan entitled ‘Tantramar 2040’.
At Monday’s regular meeting of Port Elgin Council, EOS executive director Katie Friars presented an overview of the new plan.
She defined sustainability as human activities that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
