Energy Efficient Retrofit Project Proposals
Is your non-for-profit organization in need of an energy efficient upgrade? EOS is seeking energy efficency retrofit projects proposals fromTantramar Community Groups!
Deadline: March 1st, 2013.
EOS Eco-Energy is seeking project proposals for an energy efficient retrofit project from non-profit community groups or educational centres. The retrofit project must be made visible and used as a tool for energy literacy in the Tantramar region (Dorchester, Memramcook, Port Elgin and Sackville).
The funding for this project is from the Renew Coop Initiative. The Renew Coop was a attempt by local co-operatively minded people to pool their funds to invest in renewable energy projects in the Tantramar area. It was focused on wind generation of electricity with the hopes of funding the creation of a community wind farm. However, the New Brunswick legislation with respect to securities and little government interest in community wind farms made the financial viability very risky and after several attempts over several years the co-operative chose to cease operations. Members were given the option of having their membership fees returned to them or contribute them to other renewable or energy saving projects in the Tantramar region.
This funding is available on a 50/50 match basis, up to $3,100.00 for the selected project of their choice. To be eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
– Part of Non-profit community or educational group (i.e. faith groups, food banks, environmental groups, family groups, youth groups, school groups, etc.).
– Based in the Tantramar region.
– Own or manage facilities.
