Plein Air: Outdoor painting/drawing workshop
“En plein air”; a French term meaning “in the open air” describing the practice of painting/drawing outdoors – this workshop is simply that! As part of EOS’s Climate Anxiety to Action workshops, this event will introduce you to the plein air process, gain an understanding of the practice, and a love for engaging all of your senses to create in nature!
This One-Day, 3-hour Workshop will take place on July 6th from 12 pm-3 pm near the Doncaster covered bridge in Sackville’s Waterfowl park and is dedicated to introducing you to the art of painting in reverence to nature, with an emphasis on self-expression, and our role to protect our environment even in the little ways we can. All Levels are welcome in joining this adventurous class packed with information; whether you’re just starting out or looking to brush up on your skills, this workshop is for you. With a focus on essential plein air techniques, mark making, shape, texture, and atmospheric perspective, you will be inspired and prepared to continue your painting practice all on your own!
Fine art painter Christeen Awad, who has dedicated over a decade to her visual arts practice, will lead you on this adventure! A demo will be provided detailing valuable techniques on how to create a thumbnail sketch, how to paint from observation, followed by guidance to each student as we create together in nature! Be sure to be prepared with weather-appropriate clothing. All supplies will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring any supplies you wish.
